Junk Pullers Junk Removal Presents:

All households and commercial buildings generate waste. Most of it you can throw in your can, or your commercial property dumpster. Here you'll find tips for how to dispose of those items that you CAN'T just throw away, specific to Paradise Valley. Let's get into local DIY junk removal solutions for Paradise Valley.

What can't you put in your garbage can or dumpster?

Construction debris, earth material like dirt, rocks, and concrete, paint, car batteries, tires, motor oil, other chemicals/liquids, CRT TVs, and other specific electronics, appliances, and of course, anything that won't fit. We'll start with Construction Debris. Here's how I would get rid of it.

Construction Debris

If you have a truck, the time, and the will to do so, many materials can be dropped at refurbishing centers specific to the material, for free. 2x4s, 2x6s, plywood, and then your rock materials like pavers. You'll have to provide photos to make sure the material is up to standard. You could potentially find a company willing to pick up pavers if they're in good enough condition. Many builders in Paradise Valley have their eye out for rare materials, and your extra pavers may just be what they're looking for.

If all you're missing is a truck, they can be rented from Home Depot or U-haul for decently cheap, as long as you're not traveling far. Something like $40, plus about $1 per mile. There are a dozen plus Uhauls in Paradise Valley. The biggest one on the north side is at 40th st and Bell rd. Towards the south side, try 40th st and Camelback.

If you don't have the ability to load and transport on your own, hiring a company like ours is a good bet. We can load up anything from anywhere on your property. (Junkpullers.com)!

Earth Material (Dirt, Rock, Concrete, Asphalt)

These require heavy-duty equipment to move, especially in larger volumes. If you need to remove a lot of any of these materials yourself, your best bet is to rent a dumpster, and hand load over a week or so. Quicker if you have a few good friends. Arizona Disposal serves Paradise Valley, and has great prices for inert materials dumpster rentals, typically around $400-$500 for 10 tons. If you have a full-ton truck (250, 2500), which is not uncommon in Paradise Valley, and your volume is say less than 3 tons, you can rent a dump trailer for about $250 from Home Depot or Sun Belt Rentals, and then make your way up to Buffalo Ridge Inert Material Landfill, where you'll pay $40-$70 flat rate to dump based on material.

If you can't load yourself, renting a dumpster and finding a laborer of some kind can certainly work. Family, neighbors, day laborer help.

If you have no way to load, companies like ours are a great way to go. Experienced, quick, careful, and professional. We're also insured! Call us at 480-721-9300 with any questions!

Paint

Most paint nowadays is water-based, including acrylic paints. These can simply be dried out and thrown in your regular garbage can. There is a limit to this, though. Your trash bin can be too heavy for the trucks to pick up, in which case the garbage truck driver will leave it there. To avoid this, dry out your paint, load into your truck or car, and drive out to the Salt River Landfill. Paradise Valley Residents get 1 free dump/month, if they can provide their ID with PV address, and a Utility bill with the matching address. To dry out water-based paint, you can either leave them out in the sun for a while, or buy paint hardener. Amazon has everything you'll need there. Apply the powder to wet paint in the proportions that it suggests, then mix until it hardens.

Car Batteries

If you're just swapping it out for your new battery, make sure to give the old battery to the place you're buying the new battery from. You'll save some money by getting a rebate for the old battery. If you need to get rid of a car battery or batteries without buying a new one, drop them off at O'Reilly Auto Parts! Easy solution here, they'll even give you a $10 gift card per battery you drop off.

Tires

If you have maybe 5 or less, take them to Discount Tire. Without the wheels in them, tires are about $5 to dispose of there. Maybe $10 per unit with the wheel in. If you have tires in bulk, take them to Tire Dawgs in Phoenix. About the same price per unit, but you can drop off an unlimited number here. If you have 50 plus tires, they may pick them up for you.

Motor Oil

O'Reilly again! Other auto parts stores may offer the same, but I've never been turned away from an O'Reilly with any batteries, motor oil, or other auto liquid. They don't charge to recycle them either!

CRT TVs

CRT TVs, or Tube TVs, have mercury in them, and therefore cannot be dropped in regular landfills. Luckily, there are places that exist specifically to treat and dispose of them. Westech Recyclers is the only company we know of nearby Paradise Valley that accepts CRT TVs. They charge $50 per unit to handle disposal of the hazardous material. These TVs can be extremely heavy though. Anything over 40 inches can already get to 2-person-job territory. Our Company will come pick them up for you, and take them over to Westech, if you're unable to transport them yourself.

Appliances

If you're willing and able to load up and drop off, you can make about $10-$30 dropping off your appliances at a scrap metal yard. But you can't drop refrigerators or freezers, until the coolant is removed by a certified professional. If you can't load or transport an appliance, list it for free on FB Marketplace if it still works. If it's not functional, and you can't transport it yourself, call a company like ours to come pick it up and properly dispose of it.

Stuff that Won't Fit!

Of course you cannot put stuff that won't fit in your can into your can. We're a good all-inclusive solution for all of these items. But to get more specific, it depends on the item. Parts of Paradise Valley have a bulk Pickup Program with the city of Phoenix, which you can schedule via their website. They don't take everything though, so make sure your item(s) are ones they accept. Furniture? Try to have it picked up for free from a donation center if you don't have a city bulk pickup appointment available. Donation Centers require a certain condition to be maintained, and photos to prove it. Additionally, you'll likely have to get the furniture onto the sidewalk for easy pickup for the donation company. Cardboard boxes? There are various recycling dumpsters throughout the valley, but they move around often. Calling the City of Phoenix Waste Management could help you locate one. I've seen one at 78th st and Indian School for a couple months at a time.
